Texans have always suffered through some of the worst long distance rates in the country.
Now that is finally coming to an end. It might seem unbelievable
to most Texas phone customers, but there are really no gimmicks to this plan.
It is probably the best overall plan in the country and it is only available
at this incredible rate for Texans (and Denver residents) right now, with
more areas coming soon. You can
actually specify NONE as your long distance provider and have the best of all
situations - NO government fees for 1+ service and no other monthly charges on
you local bill except JUST your local charges!
Through one of the most unique and innovative plans currently available, you
can get THE best rate anywhere in the country (only 4.9¢ per minute) on ALL calls
to any number in the US and CANADA, including ALL long distance calls in the
state of TEXAS. ALL calls are billed in 6 second increments so you pay ONLY
for the time you actually talk. Calls can be made from ANY phone to ANY number in the world
without ANY surcharges or extra monthly fees. The international rates are the
lowest anywhere and are also billed in 6 second increments with the exception of Mexico which
is billed in the standard 1 minute increment. You can even use this plan from
a cellular phone without incurring ANY long distance charges from your cell provider!
Even calls from local pay phones NEVER incur a surcharge. This plan can be used on the road
like a calling card, and you can have as many cards on one account as you wish and even
limit the amount that can be charged in one month on any card. This is perfect for
companies which want to issue cards to their employees and track or limit their spending
or even a parent wanting to control the calling of a kid away at school or camp
and still have the security of knowing they can call home anytime from any phone.
You have access to your current billing on-line 24 hours a day at your own secure
website updated daily, and there is no extra charge for this service. Maybe the
best part is that you can actually bypass 1+ service altogether and avoid all
those extra charges that the FCC, your local provider, and your primary long
distance carrier love to pad onto your bill. You can specify NONE as your
primary long distance provider and still call any 1+ toll-free or emergency
number just as you always have. Southwestern Bell is currently adding
a total of 21¢ to a bill setup like this because you can always still
RECEIVE long distance calls, and yes the FCC does allow this, but it is
far better than the $8 to $12 most residential customers pay in extra fees
and monthly charges due to the 1+ service on their local bills!
How is all this possible, you ask? You eliminate
the need for your local service provider to switch you to a long distance carrier
by using state-of-the-art CO quality switches in your local area. Every metropolitan
area in Texas is covered or will be soon. Right now Austin, Dallas,
Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio have service with El Paso, and the rest coming on board in the
next few weeks. You simply call a local number in your area and then enter your PIN
and dial your number normally. The call is switched to major fiber optic networks
for the highest quality and reliability on both voice and data calls. By simply entering
the local access number and your PIN into memory buttons on your phone, only
1 extra keypress is required to use this service compared to 1+ dialing. Because you are
simply calling a local number, you can use the service from any phone including
cell phones, pay phones, and even those phones which have long distance calling blocked,
such as you might find with the customer courtesy phones in businesses.
There must be hidden fees, right? The total cost of the service is an initial $1
activation fee and then a flat $1 per month fee only in those months when you make calls.
If you don't make any calls for months, you are charged absolutely nothing, unlike
conventional long distance and 1+ service which always impose monthly fees and charges.
You have a choice of paying by credit card or bank debit card, and you only pay for the
exact charges on your calls in 6 second increments with no minimums or surcharges.
Your total monthly fee is always either 0 or $1 regardless of the number of cards or PINS
you add to your account. You can limit each PIN or account to any amount you desire.
That's it. The only other charges are those the government
requires on all phone service, like sales tax and the USF fee. However, unlike
Sprint, MCI, ATT, and other 1+ providers which charge over 8% for the USF, the FCC
mandated USF is only 4% on this plan.
If you absolutely must have 1+ service, or require inbound toll-free numbers for your business
or residence, you can still get the 4.9¢ rate on all your calls.
Use the card for all your outbound calling, and get a 4.9¢ rate on your inbound interstate
toll-free numbers by signing up for the lowest cost 1+ service in the country. Of course,
as with all 1+ calling you will be charged the FCC mandated PICC fee by Southwestern Bell
or whatever provider furnishes you with local service, as well as the above mentioned sales
tax and the USF, which will only be 6.75%. NOTE: In July 2000 the PICC was offically discontinued.
Some providers have continued to charge this on the July bills, but it should be removed
on anyone's bill for calls actually made after the first of July. The bills for this
period may still be charged through September or later due to the lag time in the billing
cycles. If your provider is still charging you a PICC after this period, contact them
and have the charges removed. Billing is in 6 second increments and you are billed
on a separate detailed monthly invoice. There are no monthly fees imposed on the 1+ service,
and you can add an unlimited number of inbound toll-free numbers for no charge as well. For example, if you
want to add 1 or 200 toll-free numbers for your business, you pay only for the time of your calls at 4.9¢ a minute. Texas only toll-free
numbers, special vanity numbers, and account coded services are also available on this plan.
If you don't live in a metro area in Texas, don't despair. You can still get the 4.9¢
rate on all calls except those to long distance numbers within the state of Texas, and the
plan still has a special rate for you that's lower than any other. You can call a toll-free number to
connect to the same service and get a 7.9¢ rate on all your long distance calls
to numbers in the state of Texas, and 4.9¢ on all interstate calling. An added feature
to this service is that your home number is automatically detected, so you don't even have
to enter a PIN using the special QuickLinq service this plan provides.
It must seem too good to be true for Texas residents
who have paid such incredibly high rates for so long. We were among them until this plan
became available, but now we use this same setup ourselves. It used to cost over 35¢
per minute to call 8 miles down the road! Now we pay just 4.9¢ per minute (with 6 sec
increment billing) for all our calls. If you have
spent any time looking over this website, it should be obvious that we don't recommend
ANYTHING that doesn't give excellent value, and we believe this to be the best plan on earth
for practically anyone with a home or business phone. If you are getting a better rate
with your present plan, please let us know. It will be added to this site immediately.
It's also very easy to sign up for this plan because we handle all the work for you.
We don't ask for any personal information over the Internet and we also believe a real
live person should talk to you directly at your convenience. Just leave your name,
phone number and the best time to call. As stated previously, anyone in Texas
can sign up for this plan. Those who don't live in the areas for the 4.9¢
calling card can still get 7.9¢ for in state long distance and 4.9¢ on all
interstate (including your toll-free numbers) calling. If you still have any questions, we can discuss these when we call. You are not signing
up for the plan by filling out this form, nor are you obligated to accept anything
when we call.
You may also contact us by a variety of other methods, including a direct Net Phone
call (or voice-mail) over the Internet, an alphanumeric page, call us directly toll-free at
one of the numbers below, or fax us your bill for free analysis. You will almost
definitely get diverted to a voice-mail system during business hours as we REFUSE to
make people wait on hold for more than a minute. We will call you back at your
convenience at any time you specify if we can't take your call immediately.
